The project focuses on the careful redesign of the interior of the Friedrichsfelde village church in order to make it usable for both church services and other cultural events. The concept aims to make the church space more flexible while preserving its historical character.

Flexible use of space

A key part of the planning is the removal of the fixed benches. They will be replaced by flexible seating that can be adapted to suit the event in order to allow the room to be used in a variety of ways.

Another architectural goal is the redesign of the chancel, which is to be given a clearer, more modern presence. An open design will emphasize the liturgical significance of the altar area and create an inviting atmosphere.

New lighting concept

To support the multifunctional use, a new lighting concept is being developed that emphasizes the architectural features of the space and offers atmospheric lighting options for various events.

In two workshops with the parish, the needs and wishes of the parishioners were incorporated in order to develop a plan that both respects the historical context and is sustainable for the future.

Current project status

The project is at a standstill following completion of the preliminary design due to delays caused by the pandemic and other factors. The planning to date has been completed and the project can be resumed in the future.
