Redesign of the book guild
In 2017 - 2018, we were able to accompany the comprehensive redesign of the traditional bookstore Büchergilde Gutenberg in Berlin-Schöneberg. The aim was to make the special community spirit of the Büchergilde visible and tangible in a contemporary, inviting architecture.
Facade design
The existing façade was stripped of its gray wall panels to reveal the historic black tiles. These were cleaned and refurbished so that their original aesthetic could shine again. A new red neon "Books" sign picks up on the 1950s design and ensures good visibility in the surrounding district. The façade is complemented by a letter puzzle with important writers and the yellow lettering "LESEN", which playfully communicates the bookshop's literary focus.

What is the Book Guild?
The Büchergilde is an independent book club that puts together a literary program every quarter from the new publications of the book year as well as rediscoveries.
As a cooperative, the Büchergilde is preserved by the support of its more than 60,000 members. This is why its high-quality editions are only sold to members.
