Architecture and building concept

The city of Wetzlar is planning a new natural swimming pool with biological water treatment on the site of the previous outdoor pool in the center of Wetzlar, directly on the Lahn. The pool will include a 25-metre lane, a non-swimmers' area, a sandy beach and a diving tower.
In addition to the pool, a catering building and a pavilion for pool supervision will also be built. A central element of the design is the cantilevered roof that connects all parts of the building. This flat roof design ensures that the scenic character of the surrounding green area is preserved.

The restaurant area will offer a direct view over the baths and the Lahn. Terrace areas along the riverside path complement the outdoor catering facilities and create a link between the building and the riverside area.

Sustainability

The façade of the building will have a modular design, consisting of timber frame construction modules with glazed and closed areas. The concept includes a sustainable energy supply: Large-scale photovoltaic systems, ventilation technology with heat recovery, heat pumps and a bath technology with biological Neptune filters instead of chlorine ensure climate-friendly operation.

The new natural pool in Wetzlar is due to open in late summer 2025 and will offer an environmentally friendly, modern leisure facility for the city.
