Construction of an archive center
The Bundesanstalt für Immobilienaufgaben (BImA) is examining the construction of an archive center for the Federal Archives on the site of the former headquarters of the Ministry of State Security (MfS) in Berlin-Lichtenberg.
Today's "Campus for Democracy" is home to a Stasi museum, a visitor center and other institutions.
Feasibility study and examination of building use
A feasibility study, prepared by PD - Berater der öffentlichen Hand, D:4 Architektur and Drees & Sommer SE, examines the accommodation of the space and functional requirements of the Federal Archives in the existing building and/or in supplementary new buildings and serves as a basis for the structural development of the site. In this context, the concerns of the monument protection authorities and the city planning office are also taken into account. As part of this MBS, we explicitly examined the accommodation of requirements in the existing buildings in 2022.
