In collaboration with the Catholic parish of St. Hedwig Buckow-Müncheberg and the daycare center Christlich-Naturnahes Kinderhaus Müncheberg (KEKS e.V.), the idea of a future-oriented church-community and meeting center was born. The project was supported by LEADER and daycare center funding and offers a comprehensive social, ecological and educational program for the community and citizens of Müncheberg.

The 270 m² daycare area offers space for 30-40 children and is run by KEKS e.V.. The garden and the children's kitchen are central components of the educational concept. Children learn to cook with regional and organic food in the fully equipped kitchen. This kitchen can also be used for larger events.

Planning and implementation

The aim was to replace the parish and community hall from 1938, which was in dire need of renovation, with a modern new building that meets the requirements of a community center with a daycare center. At the same time, the exterior façade of the church was renovated, a new heating system was installed and the bells were replaced. The result is a small "town" that serves as a community center for Müncheberg and the surrounding villages. An open entrance area connects the nursery with the rooms of the center and emphasizes the public character of the building.

The center can be used on weekdays for various advisory services. Flexible office workstations and two barrier-free event rooms are available. These rooms offer space for senior citizens' groups, church festivals and community events. The project was recognized by the municipality and the LAG Märkische Seen e.V. as particularly worthy of support.

The community center with adjoining daycare center, financed in large part by subsidies, was completed in 2021 and has been available to the community and the citizens of Müncheberg ever since.
